The Clinton Cooper Degustation Debut

Award winning New Zealand Chef Clinton Cooper is home after 13 years abroad to perform his New Zealand culinary debut in Auckland at Vinnies.

This is a one-night, culinary journey like no other.

It’s not the first pairing of these culinary maestros; our own Geoff Scott and Clinton first worked together at the Carlton Hotel, and again when Clinton was Geoff’s Sous Chef at The Hunting Lodge.

Now they’re back at the stoves again, a first since Clinton returned home, fresh from Heston Blumenthal’s famed three Michelin starred restaurant “The Fat Duck, ” and earlier posts as Executive Chef with The Four Seasons and Shangri-la Hotels in Mumbai, Shanghai and Dubai.

And what this pair will deliver from the kitchen on this one special night is going to be phenomenal! Absolutely not to be missed!Nonchalant Gourmand Review for 4 Seasons

With a wealth of culinary knowledge Clinton has developed his own personal style which harnesses the cuisines, flavours and techniques which he discovered along his travels.

“The 7 course menu I have chosen will feature sensational quality New Zealand produce; something I have really missed. It is so good to be working with local ingredients of international quality.

Butter poached lobster ravioli

The lamb and crayfish are just two of my favourites and we will finish with a dessert created with two varieties of chocolate. Of course, there will be some unexpected surprises on the night, like the pop corn soup… as for the rest, my lips are sealed.”

About Clinton Cooper

Clinton has enjoyed an extraordinary 18 year career that has spanned 10 different countries and 11 cities including some of the worlds finest hotels and most iconic restaurants.

He studied 1995 at Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and completed his culinary studies Auckland University of Technology (AUT). He then went on to work at some of the city’s most iconic restaurants; ”The Bronze Goat”, the Hyatt’s “Top of the Town”, “The Hunting Lodge” and “Five City Road” under the mentorship of Chefs such as Dietmar Sawyer and Geoff Scott before heading overseas.

His International career was nothing short of demanding; working through a coup in Fiji, the Second Gulf War while in Saudi Arabia, and the tsunami when he moved to Thailand. His culinary curiosity as undaunted as his commitment to fully understanding the culture in which he worked; “I experience each country from the inside. When you see the good with the bad, you get a truer perspective.”

It’s this perspective and his drive that saw him rise to the dizzying heights of Executive Chef of Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai and Heston Blumenthal’s famed three Michelin starred restaurant “The Fat Duck”. Yet our home grown Kiwi chef is true to his passion for outstanding food, “My staff always say that the happiest they see me is when I am actually cooking”.

On his travels he says, “It’s not a job – if you want to be a chef and do it properly, it’s a lifestyle.” On his return to his roots he says, “It’s good to be home”. We’ll be watching his next moves with interest.
